Verizon Wireless has announced the new Samsung Stratosphere, its first 4G LTE smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Similar in appearance to last year’s Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint, the Stratosphere has a 4-inch display and a single-core 1GHz processor. Read the full story here.

Joining the likes of competitors AT&T and Verizon, Sprint will soon begin building its own 4G LTE network, essentially admitting its bet on the rival WiMax standard was a bust. Sprint, the nation’s third largest carrier, plans to roll out its 4G LTE network on the 1900MHz spectrum by mid-2012, with complete build-out by the end of 2013.

Sprint has confirmed that it will start offering unlimited data plan on Apple’s iPhone. The iPhone 4S debuts on October 14 at Verizon, AT&T and Sprint with pre-orders starting today.
